RE-KORD is a self-hosted music hub: a fast library with rich metadata, a serious player with visualizers and synced lyrics, Studio tools to grow and tidy your collection, and the Plectr rhythm game. Your files, your machine. No subscription, no cloud.
RE-KORD 5 is a complete rewrite: a Rust hub, a Svelte client and Tauri apps replace the legacy app. It is faster and lighter, and it keeps your data: the first scan of your existing library imports everything automatically. Updates since then added podcasts and news, tags and covers read from your files and a keep-awake option for the hub; the latest one brings downloads that arrive tagged, a “To fix” list and steadier Android playback in the car.
Studio writes title, artist, album, track and disc numbers, date, genre and a square cover into every file it downloads, and a single saved into an album folder takes the next track number. YouTube works again: the Server packages and the Docker image include a JavaScript engine for yt-dlp.
Click Quality alerts on Home to see the albums without cover or metadata, the tracks without metadata and the folders with loose tracks, each with its fix: Cover, Metadata, Edit or Open album. The counts update as you go.
Press play from the car, a Bluetooth headset or the lock screen with the phone locked, and car head units can browse RE-KORD as a media app with a Resume item. If Android has closed the app after a long pause, open it from the notification.
An optional module, off by default: RSS podcasts, radio news such as RTL 102.5's Giornale Orario and live radio, in the normal player. Turn it on in the admin panel; while it is off it costs nothing.
Title, artists, album, track and disc numbers, dates, genres, BPM, lyrics and the cover are read from FLAC, MP3, M4A, Ogg, Opus, WAV, AIFF, WMA and WebM files. They fill what you haven't curated: your Studio edits always win.
Power, in the admin panel, stops the hub computer from going to sleep — always, or only while it is in use — so your phone still finds it. The screen can still turn off.
Desktop apps for Windows and Linux and an Android app, built on Tauri 2. The interface ships inside the app — on Windows the Client is a single portable exe, no installer.
One self-contained binary built on axum, Tokio and SQLite: low memory use, fast start-up and a graceful shutdown that closes the database cleanly.

Folder-first indexing with automatic layout detection and a filesystem watcher. Tags and covers embedded in FLAC, MP3, M4A, Ogg and other files fill in what you haven't curated. Browse by artist, genre or 14 moods, and search with Ctrl+K.
Your library as a galaxy: every track is a star placed by tempo and energy, colored by mood or genre and sized by play count. Drag, zoom and filter, then click a star to play it or start a radio from there.
Discover new releases from artists you own, download with the bundled yt-dlp into files tagged with their cover, fetch metadata from Discogs, MusicBrainz, iTunes, Deezer and TheAudioDB, save trivia and find covers. Hand-edited values are never overwritten.
A four-lane rhythm game charted on the fly from the song you are listening to, chosen in the library as usual: three difficulties, hold notes, combos, grades, per-song records synced to your account, latency calibration and key remapping. On phones the player bar stays below the game.
17 theme presets plus a custom theme: your colors and text color, a background image or animated GIF, a palette extracted from the picture and adjustable glass. Export a theme and share it.

Every line is public on GitHub. Anyone can read it, audit it and build it from source.
No sign-up, no telemetry, no analytics. Accounts are profiles on your own hub, and the interface even uses self-hosted fonts.
